Start with the number, not the name

Every December we host Prague companies in our spaces, and every year we watch the same mistake: a team falls in love with a venue before checking whether it fits the evening they actually want. Here's the checklist we'd send any event planner — including ourselves.

1. Capacity, honestly counted

Ask how many people the venue seats for dinner, not standing. At Turquoise, the Brasserie seats 89, the Grand Upper Floor seats 200, and the Secret Garden holds up to 600 standing. A seated Christmas dinner for 150 in a space rated for 300 standing feels empty; the right room feels full.

2. Can you actually hear each other?

Company parties live or die on conversation. Vaulted halls are beautiful and echo badly — ask how the venue handles acoustics, and whether background music is included.

3. The food: pick your style

• Buffet keeps 150 people moving and fed in under an hour — ideal for mixed departments and long guest lists.
• Plated service gives the evening structure: welcome speech, dinner, awards, dessert.
• Mezze stations turn dinner into mingling — the friendliest format for networking.

4. December logistics

The unglamorous questions that decide the night: How late can the party run? Is there a cloakroom for 200 coats? Can you bring your own awards, DJ or band — and is there a sound limit? How far is it from the metro in the snow?

5. Book before the calendar fills
